Check identity, vaccination, travel documents and approved routes as one plan.

Check the basic process

The process can include a microchip, rabies vaccination, travel documents, an approved entry route and declarations. The microchip must come before the rabies vaccination.

The tapeworm-treatment window

Where required, a dog must receive and have treatment recorded by a veterinarian between 24 hours and 5 days before arrival. Dates and transfers matter.

Confirm the route

Use the approved-route list and confirm species, breed, crate and health restrictions with the carrier. Transit countries may add requirements.

Plan comfort early

Introduce the crate gradually and discuss travel fitness and feeding with a veterinarian. Do not use sedatives without advice.
