Itchy, Red Skin in Cats and Dogs: Identify the Cause First

“Eczema” is a common description, not a complete skin diagnosis.

Similar signs have different causes

Allergies, parasites, infection and other problems can all cause redness, itching and hair loss. Humidity alone cannot explain every case.

More cleaning is not always better

Keep bedding clean, dry animals carefully and use care recommended by a veterinarian. No natural product is automatically suitable for every animal.

Avoid self-treatment

Do not apply tea tree oil, concentrated essential oils, human creams or homemade solutions. These cannot replace veterinary assessment.

Keep useful records

Record timing, photographs, new foods or cleaners and parasite-control products. Pain, discharge, pus, spreading redness or reduced energy require help.
